AbstractChronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) is considered to be an immune-mediated heterogeneous disease involving cellular and humoral immunity. In recent years, autoantibodies against nodal/paranodal protein neurofascin155 (NF155), neurofascin186 (NF186), contactin-1 (CNTN1), and contactin-associated protein 1 (CASPR1) have been identified in a small subset of patients with CIDP, which disrupt axo-glial interactions at nodes/paranodes. Although CIDP electrodiagnosis was made in patients with anti-nodal/paranodal component autoantibodies, macrophage-induced demyelination, the characteristic of...

AbstractAnti ‐nodal/paranodal antibodies have been reported in human demyelinating disorders. Anti‐nodal protein antibodies, namely, anti‐neurofascin (NF) 186 antibodies and antibodies against paranodal proteins, such as NF155, contactin 1 (CNTN1), and contactin‐associated protein 1 (CASPR1), are found i n subsets of chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP). In particular, CIDP patients with IgG4 anti‐NF155 antibodies and those with IgG4 anti‐CNTN1 antibodies commonly show sensory ataxia, severe demyelination on nerve conduction studies, very high cerebrospinal (CSF) protein leve ls and poor res...

CONCLUSIONS: The quality of life of several Colombian patients diagnosed with multiple sclerosis was very good. This positive result was also observed in caregivers as evidenced by the results of the CareQol questionnaire. We also observed and indicated an inversely proportional correlation between the Expanded Disability Status Scale and the quality of life indexes. PMID: 32220169 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

AbstractThere is a growing realization that many patients are incorrectly diagnosed with chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), with at least half of patients that carry a diagnosis of CIDP in the USA possibly having a different explanation for their neuropathy or having no neuropathy at all. Many misdiagnosed patients go on to receive costly and potentially harmful treatments for a disease that they do not have, while at the same time missing an opportunity to treat their true ailment. The cost of misdiagnosis on patients and society is not trivial. Many factors contribute to misdiagnosis. Particular po...

ConclusionsThe authors indicated to the possibility of central sensory involvement in patients with CIDP, especially based on the prolonged inter-latency of BAEPs with simultaneously confirmed root affection. The severity of central damage correlates with the degree of peripheral nerve impairment.

Abstract OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the distribution and characteristics of peripheral nerve abnormalities in chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) using magnetic resonance neurography (MRN) and to examine the diagnostic efficiency. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Thirty-one CIDP patients and 21 controls underwent MR scans. Three-dimensional sampling perfections with application-optimized contrasts using different flip-angle evolutions and T1-/T2- weighted turbo spin-echo sequences were performed for neurography of the brachial and lumbosacral (LS) plexus and cauda equina, respectively. Clinical data an...

This case report describes 2 men, each with an 8-year history of chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy, who later developed Merkel cell carcinoma, and a third man who presented with Merkel cell carcinoma and, after completing treatment, was diagnosed as having chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy.

Nimish Gupta, Dinesh Khullar, Pallavi Prasad, Rahul Grover, Gagandeep Chabbra, Kunal Raj Gandhi, Sahil BagaiIndian Journal of Nephrology 2020 30(2):117-120 Membranous nephropathy is known to be associated with number of autoimmune diseases. Occurrence of PLA2R positive membranous nephropathy with sjogren's syndrome and chronic inflammatory demyelinating neuropathy (CIDP) is quite rare. Role of PLA2R antigen in autoimmune diseases like sjogren's syndrome and CIDP is largely unknown. Choice and initiation of immunosuppression if required may also be governed by the presence of other autoimmune diseases along with PL...

Authors: Breville G, Lascano AM, Roux-Lombard P, Lalive PH Abstract This pilot study was designed to compare the levels of interleukin-8 (IL-8), a pro-inflammatory chemokine, in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of patients with Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS), chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), non-inflammatory polyneuropathy (PNP), and other non-inflammatory neurological diseases (functional syndrome or migraine). The results show elevated CSF IL-8 levels in GBS compared to the other groups (p
