Bonfiolo and colleagues (Bonfioli et al., 2018) conducted a randomized controlled trial of a physical activity intervention in 326 research participants with schizophrenia. Given the morbidity and mortality associated with sedentary behaviors for individuals with psychotic spectrum illnesses, their results of a nearly 25% improvement in at least one or more World Health Organization criteria for diet and exercise versus approximately 12% for the control group are encouraging.
