45% of UK gynaecologists think chronic pelvic pain is managed badly

we found that 45% of UK gynaecologists think that chronic pelvic pain (CPP) is managed badly. CPP affects 38/1000 women annually in the UK and global estimates range from 2.1 –24% of the female population [1,2]. Endometriosis, adenomyosis, adhesions, pelvic inflammatory disease, irritable bowel syndrome, bladder pain syndrome, nerve entrapment, and musculoskeletal pain are among the common causes [1]. Timely diagnosis and treatment of CPP is crucial to avoid unnecessar y referrals, investigations and surgical procedures [3,4].
