The corrosion potentials (mV) of as-cast, annealed and remelted alloys ranked: −237.36  9.8937 × 10−5. Therefore, combining the results of the immersion tests, it can be concluded that corrosion resistance exhibited the rank: annealed > remelted > as-cas...

Conclusions: There is a high incidence of concomitant, ipsilateral fractures of the posterior malleolus in patients presenting with operative distal-third, spiral fractures of the tibia. A preoperative ankle computed tomography should be strongly considered in all cases with this specific fracture morphology. Level of Evidence: Diagnostic Level III. See Instructions for Authors for a complete description of levels of evidence.

Conclusions: The ultimate strength of comminuted olecranon fracture fixation with a PLP decreases significantly if the fracture is proximal to the midpoint of the trochlear notch. Fractures proximal to the midpoint of the trochlear notch may benefit from supplemental fixation or suture augmentation to prevent failure, particularly at force ranges higher than those experienced during active elbow range of motion.

Conclusions: This study adds to the scant amount of information available about experiences of nursing students who are men during their clinical maternity nursing rotation and may help to explain why some men may feel unwelcome in women's health nursing.

Introduction: During the postpartum period, women may have changes in their mental health and experience postpartum mood disorders. Postpartum depression (PPD) is an especially prevalent postpartum mood disorder, affecting 10% to 15% of new mothers. Although PPD has detrimental effects on women's health, it can also affect maternal–infant attachment, bonding, and interaction, which influence the maternal–infant relationship and can lead to poor outcomes for infants later in life. The purpose of this review is to identify effective strategies for improving the maternal–infant relationship for mothers wit...

CONCLUSIONS: These results demonstrated that a concentrated surfactant gel preserved with antimicrobials can sequester and cause the immobilization of planktonic bacteria. Further, the concentrated surfactant gel with SSD can effectively kill planktonic and sessile microorganisms.

AbstractBackgroundTuberculosis (TB) is still one of the most serious infectious diseases in the mainland of China. So it was urgent for the formulation of more effective measures to prevent and control it.MethodsThe data of reported TB cases in 340 prefectures from the mainland of China were extracted from the China Information System for Disease Control and Prevention (CISDCP) during January 2005 to December 2015. The Kulldorff ’s retrospective space-time scan statistics was used to identify the temporal, spatial and spatio-temporal clusters of reported TB in the mainland of China by using the discrete Poisson proba...

ConclusionsGenerally, superior vena cava syndrome is the result of extrinsic compression of the superior vena cava by tumor. Our patient ’s case represents the development of superior vena cava syndrome after an excellent response of tumor with near-complete tumor response. We suspect chemoradiation therapy as a potential etiology for the precipitation of the superior vena cava syndrome, which is currently not well reported in the medical literature.

AbstractSurviving a gunshot wound to the head is a rare event, particularly in the past when medical treatment was much less advanced than it is today. Moreover, the finding of such a case as an identified specimen within a museum collection is even more uncommon. This led us to report on this unique case in this paper as it poses a challenge to forensic anthropology and provides a unique educational oppourtunity. The skull from the Collection at the Cranium Museum in the Department of Morphology and Genetic at the Federal University of S ão Paulo (UNIFESP) dates back to 1946. For trauma registration the bone locati...
