Synthesis of 8-alkoxy and 8,8 ′-dialkoxy derivatives of cobalt bis(dicarbollide)

Bregadze In this paper, a simple and convenient way for synthesis of common alkoxy derivatives of cobalt bis(dicarbollide) was developed and a series of 8-alkoxy [8-RO-3,3′-Co(1,2-C2B9H10)(1,2-C2B9H11)]-, 8-alkoxy-8′-hydroxy [8-RO-8′-HO-3,3′-Co(1,2-C2B9H10)2]- and 8,8′-dialkoxy derivatives [8,8′-(RO)2-3,3′-Co(1,2-C2B9H10)2]- (R = Me, Et, Pr) were synthesized. The solid state structure of (Me4N)[8,8′-(MeO)2-3,3′-Co(1,2-C2B9H10)2] was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction study. Graphical abstract
