Customized headgear for the management of recurrent temporomandibular joint dislocations

Chronic recurrent temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dislocation is both an uncommon and debilitating condition of the facial skeleton. A co-ordinated multidisciplinary approach was used in which the oral and maxillofacial laboratory technicians produced a customized headgear appliance that utilizes a ‘seat belt’-like technology.
