ConclusionsPI remains a significant complication of PEG placement. Pseudomonas and Klebsiella are the most common organisms and prophylactic antibiotic protocols should be tailored accordingly. Elective PEG before the institution of chemotherapy/radiotherapy in patients with oropharyngeal malignancies is recommended.
