Applying the apprenticeship model to psychiatry: an evaluation

This article assesses the success of an apprenticeship scheme piloted within a mental health setting for fourth year medical students. The results show that it was possible and indeed successful in terms of fulfilling the basic tenets of the apprenticeship model. It was also found to be a novel method of increasing the likelihood of students considering psychiatry as a future career.
