Delirium in Dementia: Looking Beyond the Basics

Delirium with underlying dementia is often misconstrued as dementia associated with behavioral disturbances leading to inappropriate management and prescription. It's paramount to understand the natural progression of both syndromes. Healthcare providers must remain cognizant of the significance of a thorough H&P when formulating a diagnosis as well as a care plan. Providers must remain open to various diagnoses in the absence of a clear etiology.
