V.E.R.C.I. (Veterans Enrolled in Restorative Care plus Intervention) Exercise Project: A Model to Improve Strength, Balance, Mobility, and Decrease Fall Risk in Aging Veterans

Older U.S. Veterans in VA Community Living and Rehabilitation Center (CLC) have disproportionately higher rates of sarcopenia, dynapenia, and higher incidences of frailty which result in loss of functional mobility and increased risks of falls and fall-related injuries than older non-veterans. This project uses a low-impact muscle-strengthening and balance training program to improve functional mobility, gait speed and balance, thereby reducing fall risk to CLC Veterans.
