Give and Take Medicine (Good Doctor and Nurse Humor).

Being a great doctor or nurse means learning how to give and take.  Healthcare professionals are not dictators and patients are not entitled to whatever they read on the internet.   Nursing and doctoring are an art of skillful negotiation with patients and their families.  As professionals, doctors and nurses have an obligation to seek out the care plan that is in the best interests of their patients.  The Happy Hospitalists wants all patients to know that your doctor and nurse are there for you.  They are ALWAYS thinking about how to make you the most satisfied patient.  They have to because their jobs depend on it.However, keep in mind that sometimes doctors and nurses don't get it right.  They have attitudes, emotions and personality disorders just like the patients they have been slaved in to treat from dawn until dusk and deep into the Ativan night.  Their frustrations are often mutual.  However, as professionals,  doctors and nurses have an obligation to suppress those irritations and provide the best care possible, or at least the care that gives them the best patient satisfaction scores.  And if that doesn't work, they always have Ativan.  Because, sometimes, they just can't take it anymore.  The pooping.  The screaming.  The yelling.  The call light rodeo.  The cold food.  The hot food.  The 14 mg of Dilaudid and 20 mg of Zofran that isn't working.
