New York's Medicaid director will step down

Jason Helgerson, who oversaw New York's redesign of Medicaid, plans to step down this spring after the state budget is finalized, according to the Times Union. Helgerson came to New York in 2011 to make changes to the program that provides health care to 6.4 million low-income residents. His goal, as set by Gov. Andrew Cuomo, was to lower costs and improve health care quality. New York spent $63 billion on Medicaid in 2016. He had previously led a simi lar redesign in Wisconsin. It's not yet known…
