Prevalence of ADHD and predictors of stimulant and antipsychotic medications

The main predictor of a child with attention‐deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) being prescribed psychotropic medications in addition to stimulants is a psychiatric consultation, according to a new study from Canada. Researchers looked at children in Ontario to determine the predictors of medication prescription for ADHD in youth, as well as the prevalence and characteristics of youth with ADHD.
