Aberrant cerebellar-default-mode functional connectivity underlying auditory verbal hallucinations in schizophrenia revealed by multi-voxel pattern analysis of resting-state functional connectivity MRI data

Auditory verbal hallucinations (AVH) are common in patients with schizophrenia. Previous functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) studies have repeatedly suggested that critical abnormalities underlying AVH are not entirely confined to particular brain regions or functional networks but rather involve functional connectivity (FC) among brain regions dispersed across multiple functional systems (Alonso-Solis et al. 2017; Cui et al. 2017). However, conventional FC analyses, such as seed-based correlation analysis and independent component analysis, typically restrict targets of investigation to specific seed regions or functional networks.
