We report the first meta-analysis of taxometric research, examining 317 findings drawn from 183 articles that employed an index of the comparative fit of observed data to dimensional and taxonic data simulations. Findings supporting dimensional models outnumbered those supporting taxonic models five to one. There were systematic differences among 17 construct domains in support for the two models, but psychopathology was no more likely to generate taxonic findings than normal variation (i.e. individual differences in personality, response styles, gender, and sexuality). No content domain showed aggregate support for the ta...

AbstractEarly adulthood is a critical life period associated with increased suicide risk. The present study used a sample of students from ten Ukrainian public universities (N = 1005). Participants were 17 to 24 years of age (M = 19.19, SD = 1.99). The prevalence of lifetime suicidal ideation was 26.13% and 5.45% of participants reported a lifetime suicide attempt. Participants were more likely to report higher lifetime suicidal ideation if they had higher rates of alcohol and marijuana use, have met a clinical cu toff point for depression and were older, females, and not affi...

Behavioral health (BH) complaints, including suicidal ideation (SI) and alcohol, are common in US Emergency Departments (EDs), [1-3]. The CDC published data in 2018 demonstrating a 25% overall increase in ED visits for SI and/or self-directed violence [4]. Additionally, the CDC reported that 24.5% of the population  > 12 years old engaged in binge alcohol use in 2017 [5]. A public health crisis occurred with the onset of novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19). Current “stay at home” orders have reduced human contact through social distancing [6].
