Ethnographic analysis of communication and the Deaf Community's rights in the clinical context.

CONCLUSIONS: Communication difficulties and access to information have an impact on the health of deaf people, and violate their rights to information, to decide, and to privacy. On the other hand, the communication preferences of deaf people who use sign language may not be respected. In this case, in addition to health rights, language rights also involve clear recognition that deaf sign language users are part of a distinct community with its own language. Impact statement: Research could have a positive impact in improvement to Access, comunicaciĆ³n and safe in the Deaf Community, in clinical context. PMID: 29451100 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
