The relationship between catastrophizing, anxiety, and sleep quality in fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia (FM) is a chronic musculoskeletal pain condition that affects 2 –4% of the population and is characterized by anatomically widespread pain symptoms accompanied by fatigue, disturbed sleep and mood. In patients with fibromyalgia (FM), catastrophizing is related to greater pain severity, amplified pain sensitivity as well as higher anxiety that can disturb sleep . Understanding catastrophizing's mechanisms of action, therefore, would potentially provide valuable scientific information as well as pragmatic, treatment-related benefits in relation to sleep.
