Evaluating the psychometric properties of the widespread pain index to assess pain extent in youth with painful conditions

This study aimed to evaluate the Widespread Pain Index (WPI), previous ly used as a diagnostic tool for fibromyalgia in adults and adolescents, to determine its validity in assessing pain extent in youth. The WPI includes: 1) pain location score (19-items; pain presence/absence), and 2) symptom severity score (6-items; 0–3 Likert scale); higher scores indicate greate r pain extent and symptom severity.
