In conclusion, most experimental data on immune changes with aging show a decline in many immune parameters when compared to young healthy subjects. The bulk of these changes is termed immunosenescence. Immunosenescence has been considered for some time as detrimental because it often leads to subclinical accumulation of pro-inflammatory factors and inflammaging. Together, immunosenescence and inflammaging are suggested to stand at the origin of most of the diseases of the elderly, such as infections, cancer, autoimmune disorders, and chronic inflammatory diseases. However, an increasing number of gerontologists have challenged this negative interpretation of immunosenescence with respect to its significance in aging-related alterations of the immune system. If one considers these changes from an evolutionary perspective, they can be viewed preferably as adaptive or remodeling rather than solely detrimental. Whereas it is conceivable that global immune changes may lead to various diseases, it is also obvious that these changes may be needed for extended survival/longevity. Recent cumulative data suggest that, without the existence of the immunosenescence/inflammaging duo (representing two sides of the same phenomenon), human longevity would be greatly shortened. CONCLUSIONS: Small bowel obstruction resulting from LAGB tubing is an uncommon complication which was reported in few cases. Although bariatric surgery currently represents the best treatment option for morbid obesity and its related- diseases, peri- and post-operative complications have always to be taken into account. Authors: Polistina GE, Simioli F, Imitazione P, Lanza M, Annunziata A, Fiorentino G Abstract The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a recent pandemic that affected more than 5 million people worldwide. Chest high resolution computed tomography (HRCT) is an essential tool in diagnosis and management of the disease. Pulmonary parenchymal opacity is a typical sign of the disease, but not the only one. Pneumothorax, pneumomediastinum, bronchiectasis and cysts are probably underrated complications of COVID-19 that can worsen prognosis, in terms of prolonged hospitalization and need of oxygen therapy. In our single c...

Conclusion: Moderate quality evidence suggests that OMTh is effective for CNCP patients. There was a significant association between visceral OMTh and reduced pain severity and disability. More robust, high-quality randomized controlled trials with larger sample sizes are required to further explore the effectiveness of the OMTh in the management of CNCP. Authors: Marín-Martínez S, Rocha-de-Lossada C, Chang-Sotomayor M, Batlle-Ferrando S, Miguel L, Corretger X Abstract Scuba diving can be practiced recreationally or professionally. In both modalities the diver can be exposed to risks such as decompression syndrome and thus, the use of a hyperbaric chamber, hyper-oxygenation of the gas cylinder, barotrauma, and immersion in closed circuits. These situations have some phenomena in common, such as the great pressure differences, which can cause a wide range of alterations, including ophthalmological ones. The development of index myopia and nuclear catara...
