Telangiectatic Matting is Associated with Hypersensitivity and a Bleeding Tendency.

CONCLUSION: TM is associated with both hypersensitivity and a bleeding tendency. This study revealed no significant increase in the incidence of haemostatic abnormalities in patients with TM compared with the control group. Given the significant association with hypersensitivity disorders, the underlying mast cell hyper-reactivity may contribute to both hypersensitivity and a bleeding tendency and predispose patients to TM. Authors: Salzmann M, Hoesel B, Haase M, Mussbacher M, Schrottmaier WC, Kral-Pointner JB, Finsterbusch M, Mazharian A, Assinger A, Schmid JA Abstract Transfusion of platelet concentrates represents an important treatment for various bleeding complications. However, the short half-life and frequent contaminations with bacteria restrict the availability of platelet concentrates and raise a clear demand for platelets generated ex vivo. Therefore, in vitro platelet generation from megakaryocytes represents an important research topic. A vital step for this process represents accurate analysis of thrombopoiesis and propl...

This study aimed to compare skin measurements and investigate their correlations with various clinical severity scores. METHODS: Skin hydration (SH), transepidermal water loss (TEWL), pH, erythema, pigmentation and ITA (individual typology angle) were measured (using Delfin, Courage+Khazaka and Mettler Toledo equipment), and correlated with Patient-Oriented Eczema Measure (POEM, a short-term subjective-symptom score), Scoring Atopic Dermatitis (SCORAD, a short-term subjective-symptom and objective-sign score), Nottingham Eczema Severity Score (NESS, a long-term subjective-symptom score), Children Dermatology Life Quali...

The most common disorders associated with an eosinophilia are infection (especially parasitic), allergy, drugs and hypersensitivity disorders (such as asthma, acute urticaria, and atopic dermatitis); these account for>95% of cases. Less common reactive causes are GVHD, Churg-Strauss syndrome, connective tissue and autoimmune disease. Literature talks less about it, although surgical mesh has been associated with more robust GVD and immune complications. There is a paucity of literature with respect to elderly with such conditions, even though the elders are more likely to have undergone such surgeries and therefore, at ...
