Publication date: 15 August 2018 Source:NeuroImage, Volume 177 Author(s): Marta Brocka, Cornelia Helbing, Daniel Vincenz, Thomas Scherf, Dirk Montag, Jürgen Goldschmidt, Frank Angenstein, Michael Lippert Mapping the activity of the human mesolimbic dopamine system by BOLD-fMRI is a tempting approach to non-invasively study the action of the brain reward system during different experimental conditions. However, the contribution of dopamine release to the BOLD signal is disputed. To assign the actual contribution of dopaminergic and non-dopaminergic VTA neurons to the formation of BOLD responses in target regions of th...

This study examined whether zonisamide (ZNS) cotreatment delays dopamine transporter (DAT) reduction on SPECT in Parkinson disease (PD) patients. The study participants met the following criteria: (i) age  ≥ 40 years; (ii) HY stage = 2 or 3; (iii) average specific binding ratio (SBR) ≥2.00; (iv) levodopa administration without a prior history of ZNS use before the first DAT-SPECT (baseline). Attending physicians initially determined whether ZNS (25 mg/day) should be used or not. Levod opa and other anti-PD medications were not restricted.

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is a major cause of death worldwide. It is significantly important to assess the coronary lesion and its pathophysiological relevance comprehensively. Coronary computed tomography angiography (CTA) or myocardial perfusion imaging alone suffers from some limitations in the evaluation of CAD. Through the integration and spatial colocalization of complementary morphological and functional information, the results of published hybrid single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT)/CTA studies in patients with CAD are promising for detecting functionally relevant coronary artery lesion and evalu...
