CONCLUSION: High rates of psychiatric admission are evident throughout pregnancy for women with schizophrenia, with a high proportion of first presentations for admission occurring in the first trimester. Psychiatric admission is associated with poorer antenatal care attendance and adverse psychosocial outcomes, highlighting the need for enhanced multidisciplinary pregnancy care for this at risk group. Inpatient psychiatric services should consider pregnancy testing and contraception review for all women of childbearing age, admitted with schizophrenia. There are many different causes of female pelvic pain, some of which can be life-threatening while others can have long-term implications for fertility. It can be difficult to identify the underlying cause of pelvic pain as many conditions have similar symptoms and signs. All sexually active women presenting with pelvic pain should have a pregnancy test to rule out an ectopic pregnancy. Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is infection and inflammation of the upper reproductive tract following breach of the physical mucous barrier at the cervix.

Gestational diabetes mellitus is one of the most common complications of pregnancy. Women with Gestational diabetes are at increased risk of serious health outcomes, such as pre-eclampsia, obstructed labor, and the development of Type 2 diabetes later in life. Chinese migrants, the third largest cultural group in Australia, are more likely to develop Gestational diabetes than Australian-born women. However, to date, Gestational diabetes self-management has not been investigated in this population.
