ONE of Nicola Mendelsohn's favourite sayings - displayed on posters around the London offices of Facebook where she is the company's vice president for Europe, the Middle East and Africa - is: "What would you do if you weren't afraid?" It was intended to encourage blue-sky thinking at work but for the past 15 months it has also applied to Nicola's approach to her own mortality following the shattering diagnosis of follicular lymphoma - an incurable cancer of the white blood cells.
