We have read with interest a recently accepted article by Leung and Papp [1] entitled “Accelerant-related burns and drug abuse: Challenging combination”. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the demographics and clinical outcomes of accelerant-related burns in a Provincial Burn Centre and to compare the clinical outcomes with a control group of non-accelerant related burns a s well and also analyze a subgroup of patients with history of drug abuse and drug manufacturing. They found that accelerant group was associated with higher TBSA burns, ventilator support, ICU stay, and pneumonia rates compared to the non-accelerant group.
