Toy Foundation grants Nemours $825,000 to date for pediatric trauma-informed care

(Nemours) Children who face hospitalization for conditions such as cancer often experience traumatic stress related to their illness and treatment. The Toy Foundation is funding Nemours' research into the use of play as an intervention to lessen the traumatic nature of medical events or prevent traumatic stress in children. The idea is to emphasize physical and emotional safety through play to help patients and their families rebuild a sense of control and empowerment.
