Single Cord Blood Units (CBU) Expanded with an Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor (AHR) Antagonist, Demonstrate Uniform Engraftment and Rapid Hematopoietic Recovery

Umbilical cord blood (UCB) transplant has been limited by low number of CD34+ cells, resulting in prolonged periods of cytopenia and high risk of graft failure. MGTA-456, is the UCB product after 15 days in expansion culture with an aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) antagonist in the presence of SCF, Flt-3L, IL-6 and TPO. Based on the safety profile in a prior Phase 1/2 study, we evaluated the effectiveness of MGTA-456 as a stand-alone graft after myeloablative conditioning (MAC) or non-myeloablative conditioning (NMAC).
