Using a transfer-software tool to auto-populate ultrasound measurement increases accuracy and reduces time and money spent on creating reports, according to a new  studypublished inCurrent Problems in Diagnostic Radiology.  Ultrasound technologists and radiologists tediously write, check, and edit measurements that are recorded by hand or dictated from worksheets. This process is susceptible to errors that can influence results.Researchers from the Montefiore Medical Center at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine wanted to decrease the time spent on this process, so they introduced a software that would auto-f...

Publication date: 15 March 2019Source: Food Chemistry, Volume 276Author(s): Pujun Xie, Lixin Huang, Caihong Zhang, Yejun Deng, Xiaojie Wang, Jiang ChengAbstractThree techniques of ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE), microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) and solvent extraction (SE) were used for enhancing the hydroxytyrosol (HT), maslinic acid (MA) and oleanolic acid (OA) extraction from olive pomace, being evaluated and compared through process parameters, kinetics and thermodynamics, plus greenness assessment analysis. Results showed that UAE yielded the maximum compounds due to a strong cavitation effect and the stronges...

Publication date: Available online 18 October 2018Source: Current Opinion in Food ScienceAuthor(s): M Morales-de la Peña, J Welti-Chanes, O Martín-BellosoThe demand for fresh, healthy, convenient and safe foods has prompted the development of nonthermal technologies in the food area. Numerous investigations in high-hydrostatic pressures, pulsed electric fields, ultrasound, ultraviolet light, pulsed light and cold plasma have demonstrated their effectiveness to obtain safe products with high-quality standards compared to conventional processes. The understanding of their mechanisms of action has driven to the ...

Additionally, distinguishing lymphadenopathy of sarcoidosis from sarcoid reactions which are sometimes caused by lung cancer is difficult on imaging and pathologi...

The objective of this review is to correlate radiological findings of silicone-induced granuloma of breast implant capsule (SIGBIC) from breast MRI (BMRI) scans and complementary findings of ultrasound (US) and positron emission tomography (PET) scan, and its histology originated from surgical breast implant capsulectomy. To make this correlation possible, we divided SIGBIC into three radiological findings: (1) intracapsular SIGBIC, (2) SIGBIC with extracapsular extension, and (3) mixed SIGBIC associated with seroma. Our experience demonstrates histological-radiological correlation in SIGBIC diagnosis. Knowledge of these f...
