Abstract The tissue engineering method of decellularization and recellularization has been successfully used in a variety of regenerative medicine applications. The protocols used to de/recellularize various organs and tissues are largely different. Here we describe a method to effectively engineer a bioartificial colon by completely removing original cells from human intestinal tissues followed by repopulating the acellular tissue matrix with cell cultures. This method provides a novel approach for human intestinal regeneration and can be used to identify potential cancer driver genes. PMID: 30542993 [PubMed - in process]

Background: Liquid biopsy is a collective term that refers to the analysis of tumor-derived biomarkers isolated from biological fluids of cancer patients. Recently, many authors reported the usefulness of liquid biopsy for the management of malignancy.Summary and Key Messages: The peripheral blood of cancer patients is a pool of cells and/or cell products derived from the primary or metastatic tumor, including circulating tumor cells (CTCs), circulating free (cf) DNA or RNA, and exosomes containing proteins, nucleic acids, and lipids. CTCs are tumor cells that can be isolated from peripheral blood. Free circulating DNA wit...

Abstract Background: Yes-associated protein 1 (YAP1) is an effector of Hippo pathway, which plays a significant role in cell proliferation and tumor progression. The relationship between YAP1 and gastrointestinal cancer has been explored in many previous studies. We conducted a meta-analysis to explore the prognostic effect of YAP1 in patients with gastrointestinal cancer. Methods: A systematic search was performed through the PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, and Cochrane library databases to collect eligible studies. The pooled hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were used to evaluate the ...
