Cates, Chanjuan Shi Elevated microsatellite alterations at selected tetranucleotide repeats are common in colorectal cancers (CRCs). Its association with classic mono/dinucleotide microsatellite instability (MSI) is unknown. We assessed the stability of 13 tetranucleotide and three pentanucleotide repeat markers on both tumor and normal tissue from a cohort of 22 MSI-high (MSI-H) and 107 microsatellite stable (MSS) CRCs. When present, instability was observed at tetra/pent...

This study shows that andrographolide inhibits the development of osteoclasts ( = the cells that chew away at our bones, which is fine in a healthy situation, not fine in cancer where everything goes nutso), while increasing the presence of osteoblasts (bone builders). The researchers say that the current therapies used to treat osteolytic diseases have many unwanted side effects. And they’re not just referring to bisphosphonates (which can cause osteonecrosis of the jaw) but also to new treatments such as the monoclonal antibody denosumab, Denosumab can cause low calcium levels, weakness, constipation, bac...

ConclusionsThis study generated qualitative data on survivorship impacts and components of survivor resilience in NZ. It also provided insights into the need for better strategies and pathways to help the NZ health system be more responsive to both M āori and non-Māori survivors.Implications for cancer survivorsSurvivor impacts create vulnerabilities that are experienced and described differently by individuals and groups in NZ. Tailored survivor support that can enhance resilience and support relationships is needed in NZ.

Authors: Jia B, Xia L, Cao F Abstract Colorectal cancer (CRC) develops from the colon or rectum and is the fourth highest inducer of cancer mortality. In the present study, cancer tissues and normal tissues were extracted from patients with CRC who were treated in the Affiliated Hospital of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Jinan, China). Reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction demonstrated that the expression level of miR-766-5p was significantly higher (P
