Haslam debuts $30M plan to fight opioid addiction

Gov. Bill Haslam revealed a $30 million, 10-point plan Monday to fight opioid addiction in Tennessee. As WPLN Nashville Public Radio reports, the proposal includes creating a new treatment facility for addicted inmates, hiring more drug enforcement officers and limiting the duration of new opioid prescriptions. WPLN reports that almost 1,200 Tennesseans died last year from opioid overdoses — up from about 700 in 2012.
