Crocin improved amyloid beta induced long ‐term potentiation and memory deficits in the hippocampal CA1 neurons in freely moving rats

All rights reserved. • Bilaterally beta‐amyloid (Aβ) administration into the frontal cortex increased memory deficit, which intra‐peritoneal injection of crocin significantly improved Aβ‐induced spatial memory impairment. • Crocin treatment significantly attenuate c‐Fos level and neuronal apoptosis in hippocampus induced by Aβ administration into the frontal cortex. • Crocin antagonize the blocking effect of Aβ‐induced LTP deficits in freely moving rat.
