Multimodal Imaging Including Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography of a Patient With Argus II Retinal Prosthesis One Year After Implantation

The Argus II Retinal Prosthesis System (Second Sight Medical Products, Sylmar, CA) is a surgically implantable device designed to provide artificial vision to patients with outer retinal degenerative diseases, especially retinitis pigmentosa (RP). The system was first assessed in 30 blind subjects, 28 of whom had end-stage RP, in an international clinical trial.1 The patients were evaluated by color fundus photography, fluorescein angiography (FA), and optical coherence tomography (OCT) during the follow-up, and the long-term safety results were found acceptable.
