Honda wins CE Mark for Walking Assist Device

Honda (NYSE:HMC) said yesterday it won CE Mark approval in the European Union for its Honda Walking Assist Device designed for walking rehabilitation. The walking assist device uses cooperative control technology, based on Honda’s cumulative study of human walking, the Japanese company said. The system is designed to help users achieve efficient walking based on the inverted pendulum model theory of bipedal walking, according to the company’s website. Honda said it began R&D efforts with the device in 1999, and began to lease the Walking Assist Device in Nov. 2015, according to a press release.
