Milton Frank Shore (1928–2017).

Presents an obituary for Milton Frank Shore, who passed away on January 6, 2017, due to pneumonia. During a long career, he was a tireless advocate for children, particularly those who were underserved. In addition, he made important contributions as an author, editor, and administrator. He was actively engaged in independent practice at the time of his death. Milt was one of the founders of American Psychological Association (APA) Division 37 (Child, Youth, and Family Services) and served as its president (1978–1979). While at the Worcester Youth Guidance Center in Worcester, Massachusetts, Milt helped develop (with Joseph L. Massimo) a psychotherapy program for antisocial youth that was later adopted by several groups, including the Job Corps. Milt’s research commitments and competencies led to his employment at the National Institute of Mental Health’s (NIMH) Mental Health Center in Bethesda, Maryland (1964), and he eventually became associate chief of the NIMH Mental Health Center in Adelphi, Maryland (1967). He remained there until his retirement (1986). In 1997, he received the APA Award for Distinguished Contributions to Public Service. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2018 APA, all rights reserved)
