The Impact of Idiopathic Gynecomastia on Lives of Young Men Prior to Surgical Reduction

Purpose: Idiopathic gynecomastia (IGM) has received little attention in the adolescent and emerging adult literature; however, anecdotal evidence has shown that many young men suffer in silence, trying a variety of commercial products that do little or no good. The purpose of this qualitative descriptive analysis was to identify psychosocial factors reported by young men seeking surgical correction of IGM.
