Type-1 Diabetes Management and Alcohol Use: A Qualitative Analysis of Lived Experiences and Strategies of College Students
Purpose: Type-1 diabetics transitioning from high school to college often struggle to maintain control of their diabetes. Many factors contribute to poor glycemic control. Without parental influence and a controlled home environment, blood glucose levels become less optimal, leading to a rocky transition. The main goal of this study was to identify barriers and facilitators to managing type-1 diabetes (T1D) in college, and to explore strategies employed during the transition from home to college.
