anesthesiologist handoffs and morbidity
Conclusions and Relevance Among adults undergoing major surgery, complete handover of intraoperative anesthesia care compared with no handover was associated with a higher risk of adverse postoperative outcomes. These findings may support limiting complete anesthesia handovers." Handovers During Anesthesia Care... anesthesiologist handoffs and morbidity
Abstract Although cardiovascular responses may be altered by respiratory changes under prolonged hypoxia, the relationship between respiratory and cardiovascular changes remains unknown. The aim of the present study is to clarify cardiorespiratory changes in anesthetized rats during and after hypoxic conditions using simultaneous recordings of cardiorespiratory variables with 20-sec recording intervals. After air breathing for 20 min (pre-exposure period), rats were subjected to 10% O2 for 2 h (hypoxic exposure period) and then air for 30 min (recovery period). Minute ventilation (VE), respiratory frequency,...
AbstractPurposeThe aim of this study was to examine the relationship between FFP (fresh frozen plasma)/pRBC (packed red blood cell) transfusion ratio and outcomes in patients undergoing cardiovascular surgery.MethodsThis is a single center retrospective cohort study performed in a cardiovascular center. Patients undergoing cardiovascular surgery between January 2012 and October 2016 with or without massive transfusion (n = 1453). Patients’ outcomes were compared based on FFP/pRBC transfusion ratio (FFP/pRBC > 1 or FFP/pRBC ≤ 1).ResultsIn hospital mortality and rate of ...
AbstractPurpose of ReviewThe chapter highlights current challenges in the perianesthetic care of children presenting for liver transplantation.Recent FindingsPediatric liver transplantation is a lifesaving intervention for children with various congenital or acquired acute and chronic liver diseases. The relatively low number of liver transplantations in the pediatric population nationwide presents a challenge to developing and maintaining sufficient knowledge and skills that are mandatory for the successful anesthetic care of these most critically ill patients. The essential information presented can be utilized to facili...

Conclusion: Under clinical conditions, administration of LA reduced microleakage and improved quality of hybrid layer and tubular penetration in total etch adhesive systems.
Conclusions Magnetic seizure therapy seizures have less robust electrophysiological expression than ECS, and these differences are largest in the alpha and beta bands. The relevance of these differences in higher frequency bands to clinical outcomes deserves further exploration. Significance Contrasting EEG in ECS and MST may lead to insights on the physiological underpinnings of seizure-induced amnesia and to finding ways to reduce cognitive side effects.

CONCLUSIONS: Our results suggest that acetaminophen reduces the risk and intensity of persistent incisional pain. However, there are other mechanisms by which acetaminophen might reduce persistent pain. KEY WORDS: Anesthesia, acetaminophen, Persistent surgical pain, Postoperative acute pain.
