Conclusion18F-FDG uptake distribution patterns and morphology can contribute to the diagnosis of PMR. Significant18F-FDG uptake in the sternoclavicular joints is one of the characteristic findings in patients with PMR as well as the uptake in the shoulders, ischial tuberosities, and greater trochanters. “Y”-shaped spinous process uptake may be one of the specific findings for PMR.

Polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) is often the presenting manifestation of giant cell arteritis (GCA). Fluorine-18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) scan often discloses the presence of large vessel vasculitis (LVV) in PMR patients. We aimed to identify predictive factors of a positive PET/CT scan for LVV in patients classified as having isolated PMR according to well-established criteria.

Conclusions Soft tissue pogonion and gonion were identified as the most appropriate landmarks to clinically predict hard tissue facial asymmetry. Facial asymmetries are most pronounced in the lower facial third in patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Professionals can accurately identify asymmetry exceeding 2 mm.

Conclusion Atherosclerotic disease of the lumbar arteries and aorta correlated with lumbar DDD, facet arthritis, and spinal canal stenosis after we adjusted for age, although the correlation with facet arthritis and spinal canal stenosis was not as strong in the older age group. CONCLUSION: These results suggest that CIA systemically induces a deterioration of bone structure and loss of bone strength, and that IL-6 signalling plays an important role in these processes. PMID: 29631459 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Authors: Zhang Y, Li B, Yu H, Hou J, Shi H Abstract Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a form of arthritis that affects the spine, the sacroiliac joints, and sometimes the hips and shoulders. Andersson lesion (AL), was first described by Andersson in 1937 as a destructive vertebral body and discovertebral portion of the spine in AS. In this case, we report a 50 years old man with medical history of AS diagnosed AL by fluorine-18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT). AbstractThe aim of this study was to discuss the diagnostic value of dual-energy computed tomography (DECT) in patients with gout during different disease phases. Two hundred twenty-one patients (136 with gout and 85 with other arthritic diseases) were recruited to the study. Arthrosis pain was evaluated in all patients by DECT scans. We calculated the sensitivity and specificity of DECT for the diagnosis of gout, including the first onset period, less than 24  months period, and more than 24 months period. We then investigated the related risk factors of urate crystals volume in the foot. The diagnostic sensitiv...

We report four cases of patients who developed PAH following a treatment by leflunomide for rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis or undetermined connective tissue disease. All patients described a progressive dyspnea from grade II to IV of NYHA classification; clinical examination found signs of heart failure. PAH was finally diagnosed and confirmed by right heart catheterisation. Haemodynamic explorations found pre-capillary pulmonary hypertension with mean pulmonary arterial pressure above 25mmHg, and pulmonary capillary wedge pressure under 15mmHg. Explorations of this pre-capillary pulmonary hypertension were cond...
