Lifestyle factors in somatic patients with and without potential alcohol problems

ConclusionWe found that alcohol problems are related to a clustering of other lifestyle factors and that many of the patients admitted to certain departments showed signs of various kinds of alcohol problems. Therefore, specific hospital departments could be opportune settings for preventive alcohol interventions.

Authors: Petrucci AS, LaFrance EM, Cuttler C Abstract Background: Cannabis use is widely perceived to produce an "amotivational syndrome" characterized by reduced desire to work or compete, passivity, and lower achievement orientation. The notion that cannabis diminishes motivation has been perpetuated in popular culture, despite the equivocal results of past research. Moreover, previous literature has largely failed to consider the potentially confounding influences of depression, other substance use, and personality, despite known relationships between these variables and cannabis use.Purpose: The purpo...

Authors: Takeuchi T, Okumura Y, Ichikura K Abstract The use of alcohol or drug(s) prior to self-injury is a possible inducing factor for suicidal self-injuries among patients with adjustment disorder. We analyzed the cases of 175 individuals who were admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of Tokyo Medical and Dental University Medical Hospital for suicidal self-injury to determine whether alcohol consumption or an excessive use of prescribed psychotropic medications prior to self-injury is more common in patients with adjustment disorder. During a 7-year period (July 2006 to June 2013) following their deliberate...

An efficient surface engineering strategy is proposed to significantly promote the electric conductivity, Zn ion diffusion rate, and cycling stability of MoO3 cathode for Zn ‐ion batteries. With the synergetic effect of Al2O3 coating and phosphating process, a fiber ‐shaped Zn‐ion battery based on modified MoO3 cathode presents favorable flexibility, admirable capacity, and superior rate performance. AbstractAqueous Zn ‐ion batteries (ZIBs) have garnered the researchers' spotlight owing to its high safety, cost effectiveness, and high theoretical capacity of Zn anode. However, the availability of cathode materials ...

ConclusionsThe microdeletion emphasizes the importance of adequate chromosomal testing in examining the etiology of complex alcohol ‐induced developmental disorders. Furthermore, the genotype‐specific decreased DNA methylation at theIGF2/H19 locus cannot be considered as a biological mark for PAE in adult WBCs.
