Editorial Comment: A 19 Month Old Girl of South Indian Parents Presented to a General Pediatric Clinic For Evaluation of Global Developmental Regression

Although this case is not unique in any way, it brings up 2 things I wish to note: Whether you support the process of preconception gene testing, the fact is that with meticulous application of carrier testing for Tay-Sachs disease in prospective parents, the Jewish people have been able to decrease the incidence of the disease to a remarkable extent. So much so that in the last 20 years all the cases of this disease I have seen are in non-Jewish families.
