State Reports First Human West Nile Virus Case This Year

State and local health officials announced today that the first human case of West Nile virus (WNV) was reported in an Ashland County resident. It is the first case of human WNV reported in the state in 2014. Last year, 21 state residents developed symptomatic WNV infection and two patients died from complications. Health officials are reminding people to protect themselves against mosquito bites.
