Breast and Tumour Volume Measurements in Breast Cancer Patients Using 3-D Automated Breast Volume Scanner Images

Conclusions3-D US showed a high association with gold standard WDM for the preoperative assessment of breast volume and the histopathological measurement of tumour volume. 3-D US is an patient-friendly preoperative available technique to calculate both breast volume and tumour volume. Volume measurements are promising in outcome prediction of intended breast-conserving treatment.

The objective of the present study was to evaluate aberrant expression of GSK-3β as a potential biomarker in human breast and head and neck cancers. Nuclear/cytosolic fractionation, immunoblotting and immunohistochemical staining was used to study the expression of GSK-3β in human breast and head and neck cancer. Aberrant nuclear accumulation of GSK-3β in five human breast cancer cell lines was demonstrated and in 89/128 (70%) human breast carcinomas, whereas no detectable expression of GSK-3β was found in benign breast tissue. Nuclear GSK-3β expression was associated with HER-2 positive tumors (P=...

Authors: Guo Y, Li M, Bai G, Li X, Sun Z, Yang J, Wang L, Sun J Abstract Filamin A (FlnA) is an actin cross-linking protein. Previous studies have demonstrated its role in tumor progression in a wide range of cancer types. It has been reported that FlnA interacts with the DNA damage response protein, breast cancer gene 1 (BRCA1), which is a tumor suppressor gene. However, to the best of our knowledge, there are no studies evaluating the association of these genes in human carcinomas. In the present study, the immunohistochemistry of a tissue microarray was used to investigate the clinical significance of FlnA and B...

Conclusion: MRI-linac based single dose APBI to the intact tumor is a promising and a dosimetrically feasible strategy in patients with low-risk breast cancer. Preliminary OAR dosimetry favored the prone radiotherapy position. PMID: 30406210 [PubMed]

This study sought to determine the prevalence of American Heart Association/American College of Cardiology Foundation (AHA/ACCF) heart failure (HF) Stages after potentially cardiotoxic chemotherapy was initiated.BackgroundFor individuals receiving potentially cardiotoxic chemotherapy, the frequency of transitioning from Stage A to more advanced HF Stages is not well described.MethodsIn 143 Stage A HF patients with breast cancer, lymphoma and leukemia, renal cell carcinoma, or sarcoma prior to and then at 3, 6, and 12 to 24 months after potentially cardiotoxic chemotherapy was initiated, we obtained blinded cardiac mag...

ConclusionsWhole-tumor histogram-based imaging features derived from ADC, along with washin and washout maps, provide a non-invasive analytical approach for discriminating TN cancers from other subtypes.Key Points•Whole-tumor histogram-based features on MR multiparametric maps can help to assess biological characterization of breast cancer.• Histogram-based texture analysis may predict the molecular subtypes of breast cancer.• Combined DWI and DCE evaluation helps to identify triple-negative breast cancer.
