883: Evaluating the choice of screening test for syphilis in the first trimester of pregnancy: a cost-effectiveness analysis

In light of the recent syphilis epidemic, there has been a dramatic increase in the number of congenital syphilis (CS) cases. Despite the low sensitivity and specificity of the rapid plasma reagin (RPR), it continues to be the most commonly used syphilis screening test in the United States. The goal of this cost-effectiveness analysis was to compare RPR to a treponemal rapid test, SD BioLine Syphilis 3.0 (SDB), as universal screening for syphilis in the first trimester for all pregnant women in the United States.
