Forty-three members of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine– including National Academy of Engineering President C. D. Mote, Jr.– have been elected to the 2017 class of National Academy of Inventors Fellows. According to the National Academy of Inventors, which is not affiliated with the National Academies,“election to NAI Fellow status is the highest professional accolade bestowed to academic inventors who have demonstrated a prolific spirit of innovation in creating or facilitating outstanding inventions that have made a tangible impact on quality of life, economic development, and welfare of society.
