Massive lumbar spine hematoma post-spinal tap.

Conclusion: Lumbar puncture is a useful diagnostic and treatment tool. Although serious events are seldom, they can be detrimental. A precaution not to underestimate such events in practicing lumbar, especially in patients with suboptimum coagulation state. Image-guided procedure can be useful and should be considered in appropriately selected patients. PMID: 29285409 [PubMed]

ConclusionsBlocking the SIRP α-CD47 interaction via SIRPα, while similarly efficacious in vitro, differentiates ADU-1805 from CD47-targeting agents with respect to safety and absence of inhibition of T-cell activation. The data presented herein support further advancement of ADU-1805 towards clinical development.

lli Mosquitoes (Diptera: Culicidae) are vectors of pathogens and parasites of great medical and veterinary relevance. The possible association between mosquitoes, infectious diseases, and cancer has been investigated. Despite its potential importance, there is a severe lack of research data on the topic. Herein, current knowledge, tenuous links, and related challenges on the topic were examined, grouping information under four major hypotheses. The first hypothesis is that the infection of mosquito-vectored parasites, with special reference to Plasmodium spp., may lead to cancer. The International Agency for Research o...

tro V Abstract Immunotherapy has been showed as a promisor treatment, in special for hematological diseases. Chimeric antigen receptor T cells (CARs) which are showing satisfactory results in early-phase cancer clinical trials can be highlighted. However, preclinical models are critical steps prior to clinical trial. In this way, a well-established preclinical model is an important key in order to confirm the proof of principle. For this purpose, in this chapter will be pointed the methods to generate tumor cells expressing firefly Luciferase. In turn, these modified cells will be used to create a subcutaneous and...

In conclusion, degradation of fucoidans to obtain biopharmaceutically more favorable Mw is possible without impairing their activities targeting CXCL12. Moreover, the β-1,3-glucan sulfates should also be considered as promising candidates for further development. PMID: 31726164 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

We evaluated the safety and efficacy of EPOCH, with modifications as required for local administration, for patients with high ‐risk NHL in Malawi. We treated 17 newly diagnosed adult patients in Malawi with Burkitt (n = 8), plasmablastic (n = 8), and primary effusion lymphoma (n = 1) with a modified EPOCH regimen between 2016 and 2019. Our experience suggests that EPOCH with setting‐appropriate modifications may be a practical, safe, and effective option for improving high‐risk NHL outcomes in Malawi and comparable settings, which deserves further prospective evaluation.
