Area of Ostectomy in Posterior Percutaneous Endoscopic Cervical Foraminotomy: Images and Mid-term Outcomes.

Conclusions: Residual stenosis in the lateral portion of the intervertebral foramen is weakly associated with postoperative outcomes. Our process achieved adequate FRRs and favorable postoperative outcomes, suggesting that our criteria for determining the resection area are appropriate. PMID: 29279753 [PubMed]

Authors: Borghesi A, Bondioni MP Abstract The mandibular canal is a bony channel located within the spongiosa of the mandible. The main structure contained in the mandibular canal is the inferior alveolar nerve (IAN). The IAN is a very important structure that requires due consideration during dental or surgical procedures involving the mandible. Therefore, a detailed morphological analysis of the mandibular canal should be carried out before any surgical procedure in the mandibular region in order to avoid complications and to reduce the risk of inadequate local nerve blocking. The human mandible typically has a s...

We present a 36-year-old man initially presenting with diffuse bone and joint pain who was inappropriately treated for presumed ankylosing spondylitis for 2 years. Whole-body bone scan suggested metabolic bone disease, prompting referral to our endocrine institution. He was subsequently diagnosed with persistent hypophosphataemia, inappropriately high renal tubular phosphate excretion, 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 suppression, severe osteoporosis and severe osteomalacia. FGF-23 concentrations (140 ng/L) were raised 3-fold above the upper limit of normal. Initial Gallium-68 (68Ga) DOTATATE positron emission tomography...

Conclusion: PSP was effective for sacral insufficiency fractures and showed good long-term outcomes. Combined compression fractures in the thoracolumbar spine and degenerative lumbar pathologies could be possible poor outcome predictors. PMID: 32455518 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Authors: Hernández-Vázquez RA, Urriolagoitia-Sosa G, Marquet-Rivera RA, Romero-Ángeles B, Mastache-Miranda OA, Vázquez-Feijoo JA, Urriolagoitia-Calderón G Abstract Experimental research on living beings faces several obstacles, which are more than ethical and moral issues. One of the proposed solutions to these situations is the computational modelling of anatomical structures. The present study shows a methodology for obtaining high-biofidelity biomodels, where a novel imagenological technique is used, which applies several CAM/CAD computer programs that allow a better precision ...

Authors: Martins-Filho PR, Santos VS, Santos HP Abstract A rapid systematic review was carried out to evaluate the current evidence related to the presence of SARS-CoV-2 in breast milk from pregnant women with COVID-19. Eight studies analyzing the presence of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in the breast milk of 24 pregnant women with COVID-19 during the third trimester of pregnancy were found. All patients had fever and/or symptoms of acute respiratory illness and chest computed tomography images indicative of COVID-19 pneumonia. Most pregnant women had cesarean delivery (91.7%) and two neonates had low birthweight (

ConclusionsThis comparative study shows that flexible reamers can reproduce a desired femoral tunnel position with only small improvements of no clinical relevance. As this can be achieved without hyperflexing the knee, these systems can be used for  all patients (even when hyperflexion is a challenge).Level of evidenceI.
