Applications of fluorescence in situ hybridization in detection of disease biomarkers and personalized medicine

AbstractFluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) method, as a molecular technique, is applicable for studying the gene expression during the cell differentiation, capturing images from the chromosomes/chromatin ’s areas in interphase, and detecting the chromosomal abnormality and rearrangements. This potential and impressive technique with high sensitivity and specificity could detect the biomarkers of various diseases. Therefore, it is very useful for accelerating therapy and enhancing the prognosis of the disease. A glimpse at this molecular technique and focus on its effective applications confirm it as a supreme tool for clinical diagnosis and principles of personalized medicine.
