The burgeoning problem of latex sensitivity.

The burgeoning problem of latex sensitivity. Postgrad Med. 1995 Sep;98(3):173-184 Authors: Weido AJ, Sim TC Abstract Preview Contact dermatitis from the nearly constant use of latex gloves during the workday has become a real problem for many healthcare professionals. Moreover, the patients who come in contact with these gloves or with other latex-containing equipment may show reactions. Far worse than skin problems is life-threatening anaphylaxis, which can be the first indication a person has latex sensitivity. Fortunately, risk factors have been established, and careful assessment can help minimize the chances of an untoward event. The authors furnish a questionnaire for use in identifying people at risk and describe appropriate steps to take. PMID: 29231104 [PubMed]
