New $50M proton therapy center at UAB to begin work in 2018

The University of Alabama at Birmingham and Proton International have secured funding for the new UAB Proton Therapy Center. The two entities expect to break ground on the $50 million facility, which will be the first proton therapy center in Alabama, in January 2018. Construction on the two-story, 29,000-square-foot facility is expected to take two years.
