Among the topics of this issue: Health literacy and interpreter-mediated communication

In the first issue this year, we publish two review articles on the topic of health literacy in healthcare communication. Hemsley et al. reviewed papers on health literacy demands of electronic personal health records (e-PHR) [1]. While e-PHRs may have an important function in providing patients with information about their health conditions, it is a demanding task to apply an understandable language and user friendly computer solutions in order to promote active patient participation by all relevant patient categories.
