The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of this peptide on BTICs isolated from human glioblastoma. The uptake of this peptide alone or coupled to nanocapsules was analyzed by flow cytometry and immunochemistry. Its anti-tumor effect was studied using proliferation, adhesion and viability assays. Peptide-mediated effects were also evaluated on the BTIC self-renewal ability and by immunocytochemistry to investigate their cell shape and microtubule network. Here we show that the peptide enters massively in BTICs and demonstrates an anti-tumor effect by inhibiting their proliferation and inducing their death thr...

ConclusionOur results showed that Iran is a medium-risk area for incidence of cancers. We found differences in the most common cancers in Iran comparing to those reported for the World. Our results also suggested geographical diversities in incidence rates of cancers in different subdivisions of Iran.

Wieckowski, Carlotta Giorgi, Paolo PintonAbstractOrganelles were originally considered to be individual cellular compartments with a defined organization and function. However, recent studies revealed that organelles deeply communicate within each other via Ca2+ exchange. This communication, mediated by specialized membrane regions in close apposition between two organelles, regulate cellular functions, including metabolism an...

Various prognostic factors impact the survival of GBM patients. To further understand this extremely poor prognosis disease, we evaluated the effect of the treatment facility volumes on overall survival (OS) over the years, especially after the approval of multimodality therapy using tem...

NahedAbstractWhile obtaining accurate estimates of tumor incidence volume is a difficult technical problem because it requires collating and analyzing data from dozens of world-wide sources curated under different conditions, our study aims to determine the global incidence of brain and spinal tumors. We analyzed 207 tumor registries on five continents, and calculated...

PattwellAbstractBreakthroughs in modern medicine have increased pediatric cancer survival rates throughout the last several decades. Despite enhanced cure rates, a subset of pediatric cancer survivors exhibit life-long psychological side effects. A large body of work has addressed potential mechanisms for secondary symptoms of anxiety, post-traumatic stress, impaired emotion regulation and cognitive deficits in adults. Yet, absent from many studies are the ways in which cancer treatment can impa...
